Disclaimer for the use of all information contained in this website, the use of Emotional Freedom Techniques (EFT) and the use of Matrix Reimprinting

Emotional Freedom Techniques (EFT) is a psychological acupressure technique that was developed in the mid-1990’s for the purpose of helping people to reduce or eliminate uncomfortable emotions. When emotional issues contribute to the experience of physical problems, EFT can sometimes lead to improvement in those problems as well. EFT is based on principles used in the practice of acupuncture, including stimulation of energy points on the body.

I understand that the use of energy treatment within the field of psychotherapy is a relatively new development and that at this time there is only limited published research in established scientific journals investigating these methods. While clinical reports of successful outcomes using these methods do exist in the published literature of the field known as energy psychology, and the methods are being developed and refined under the auspices of organizations such as the Association for Comprehensive Energy Psychology, I understand that clinical reports do not constitute conclusive scientific evidence. These techniques are still considered experimental by the scientific and medical communities, as well as the American Psychological Association. I further understand that even if the clinical effectiveness of these methods is scientifically established at some future date, results will vary from person to person.

I understand that while there is a substantial body of clinical experience showing no serious side-effects when EFT or other Energy Psychology techniques are properly administered, as with any form of psychotherapy it is possible that unresolved memories and related emotions and sensations may be brought into my awareness. It is possible that this emotional material may continue to surface after the therapy session and require further treatment. I also understand that previously traumatic memories may lose their emotional charge, and this could adversely affect my ability to provide legal testimony that carries the same impact as prior to treatment.

I understand that I am free to use EFT on my own for problems or emotional issues at my own discretion, and that Karen Kidd Lovett will not be responsible for the results of my use of EFT, EMDR, Matrix Reimpringing or other Energy Therapy techniques when applying them to myself.

I understand that Karen Kidd Lovett is a trained Pastoral counselor and has been certified in EMDR. She has no medical training or background, and her services do not in any way replace medical treatments. She does not diagnose, cure, treat, or prevent any medical problem, and Energy Psychology Methods are not intended as a substitute for seeking professional medical or health care advice. She works with releasing the negative emotions that may contribute to physical symptoms.

I have thoroughly considered all of the above and have obtained whatever additional input and/or professional advice I believe necessary or appropriate about using EFT, EMDR, Matrix Reimprinting, or any other Energy Psychology technique. I understand that the information contained on this website is presented as general information, and is not to be taken in any way as medical or psychological advice.
